Job Creation

Job Creation

“House Bill 1601 filed by Rep. Chuck Espy of Clarksdale, Ms, called the Mississippi Job Creations Act of 2015 would exempt the gross income of recent Mississippi graduates from income taxes if they were to seek employment within the state and stay. Although I don’t believe this Bill would “create” jobs, it certainly would allow us to fill existing jobs with needed “qualified” candidates. Created to help prevent the “brain drain” from Mississippi this “Bill” certainly caught my attention. What I would like to see is the possibility of offering scholarships to qualified students who in trade would owe the state 2 years of working in the state for each year of college paid. This would not only help in providing highly qualified employees available for employment within our state it would allow great assistance to highly qualified students seeking a college education. This also would allow the state better control of the type of employees needed by choosing the degree programs best suited for Mississippi employers to be included in the scholarship funds. During the “payback period” of employment these individuals would be paying taxes and in a sense returning the original money invested.”
